I am not sure why I took this picture being that I am writing this two days later. I think it might have something to do with the location of the air vent hole and that I might be wonder that I put the hole in the wrong location because there is a hole to the left (you just can't tell from this image quality) that helps line up the skin and I think is why they didn't want me to cut the hole in the outer rib yet. Long story short, it is good that I cut the hole in the wrong location because it helps me line up the skin however that might pose an additional problem.
Here is a shot on the other side and it show the cleco that helps me line up the skin that I was having trouble lining up.BTW, I had talked to Bruce at Van's and he said a little error is ok the the .5 inch I am experiencing could lead to a ripple effect so I was trying to muscle this thing in it's correct location (both edges matching that is). It is difficult to write about this stuff and if you are confused that is ok because I am highly confused and I assume that just gets delivered in my writing.
Here I am assuming (we know what that means) that this row of rivets are supposed to be parallel. I am checking the top rivet separation and am comparing it with the bottom separation then finagling to make them equal. I was getting close but then finally came to my senses.
I decided to stop the nonsense and do it right (build a jig) so I tore it down.
While I was deciding where in all this clutter to build the jig I decided to finish the wings and get them out of the way. Here's the right fuel tank, I drilled holes for the drain attachment thingy.
Then I did a nasty job cutting this hole by hand with the Dremel because I was getting no where with my boring bar on the Bridgeport. Orval stopped by and we riveted on the nut plates and worked on the trap door, I didn't take any pictures of our activity.
It feels good to take a breather and relax a bit. I was getting a little pushy trying to make up for wasted time and catch Luis.
