I laser cut a panel for an actual RV-8 driver. The new thing is the EFIS, I think a lot of people will be redoing their panels to incorporate an EFIS.
My latest shipment for Van's. Don't buy clecos from them, that was retarded on my part, they are way more expensive. No biggie, only about an extra $30.
I just roughed up the area where the sealant goes with scotch brite and elbow grease.
Here I am soaking the rivets in MEK and the scale is a $6 special from Target (digital is over kill IMHO), and the 7447 SB.
Regular scotch tape for back riveting. I just haven't got around to ordering the special back riveting tape. This stuff isn't bad as long as you remove it within a short period of time. If you leave it on over night then it gets worse to remove.
I was going to use scrap Al to mix the sealant, glad I didn't.
I just mixed it within the scale, worked like a charm, but it might be toast for reuse.
Here she is all mixed up 100:10 by weight. Hopefully.
I cleaned all the stiffeners and put them in their proper place.
Then applied the sealant to each stiffener.
Here they are all ready to rivet.
This stuff isn't as bad as others have made it sound, this is about the only damage, a little on my pants.
All back riveted, that went quick.
Before covering the rivets.
IMHO I don't these stiffener rivet holes are a big threat to a fuel leak but I covered the shop head anyway's, why not.
The drawing is confusing on this puppy. One drawing seems to call out AN470AD4-7 and the other AN426AD3-4, I went with the later.
I was on a roll, so I decided to seal up the drain.
So far not as messy as I thought it would be.
2 inner ribs sealed and riveted.
